Director of VPF once announced the time deploying VAR in V.League 2019.
This is a turning-point of Vietnamese football. However, after 4 rounds, VAR has not been applied in V.League 2019.
In the match Binh Duong facing Viettel, Wander Luiz (Binh Duong) had a handball goal bring the victory for his home team. The goal was recognized because of the referee’s un-detecting the foul.
VPF’s director said: “We have cherished this plan before V.League started. We had gone to Thailand to learn about VAR. We hope that this technology will bring good effect in supporting the referee.
He revealed:"VPF conducts the plan. However, it is not simply because of its complications in machines, equipment, and technical personnels who have to have a deep knowledgeable about football."
VPF tends to buy a 16-seat car holding VAR machine to move easily to stadiums.
VAR will be used at the end of this June
“However, we are 'poor children', it means it cannot be applied VAR in V.League as FIFA’s. VPF ordered a 16-seat car and will sign a contract with a professional partner to assemble the machines. There will have one match used VAR per day.
Therefore, if there is a stage occurring for 2 or 3 days, at least 2 matches having VAR, provided that the match will be held not too far. All machineries and equipments are required to report to FIFA and need to be approved.
As expected, each shift has four people, of which 1-2 people are in charge of technology, the others are referees. We intend to invite Vietnamese former referees and train them to use VAR.”
If V.League sponsors a better finance, VPF will apply an improved model using in 4 matches at the same time.
